A third-generation sulfonylurea drug
Indications: non-insulin-dependent II type diabetes mellitus, when diet, physical exercise and weight reduction alone are not adequate to control glycemia.
Dosage:
The usual initial dose of Glianov is 1 mg once per day. If necessary the daily dose can be increased.
The dosage increase should be made in increments (1 mg – 2 mg – 3 mg- 4 mg – 6 mg) at 1-2 week intervals with regular monitor of blood sugar level.
A daily dose for patients with adequate compensation of diabetes mellitus usually is from 1 mg to 4 mg of Glianov.
Only some patients need to take 6 mg or more for adequate compensation of diabetes mellitus, the maximum daily dose may be 8 mg.
The tablets are taken with plenty of water (not less than half a glass) before meals.
Drug dosage therapy is determined by a doctor taking into consideration a pace of life of a patient.
It is usually enough to take a daily dose once per day immediately before the first main meal. It is very important not to miss a meal after administration of Glianov.
