June 10, 2010 at the Lviv National Medical University named after D.Galitsky there was held a Ukrainian scientific-practical conference "Problems of Children's Allergology and Rheumatology” devoted to the 100th anniversary of the famous Ukrainian scientist and physician, Professor I. Rudnev. Prof. O.P. Volosovets and prof.LI Chernysheva made the historical reports about the life of Rudnev I.M. (10.06.1910-09.07.1970). Ivan Rudnev was born in a family of a well-known scientist-physician Rudnev Mikhail Fedorovich. In 1931 he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Medical Institute, worked as a doctor, studied in a graduate school, and then became a teaching assistant at this university.

From 1940 to 1950 he worked at Lviv Institute of Blood Transfusion, and in 1951 he took the position of Deputy Director for Science there. Since 1956 he took the position of the Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Lviv Medical Institute, Dean of Faculty of Pediatrics.

Then, he eaded the Faculty of Pediatrics (1963-1965), Hospital Pediatrics(1965-1970) of the Kiev Medical Institute.

His Doctoral thesis (1962) was devoted to the current issues of rheumatism in children.

He was a pioneer in the use of glucocorticoids in the treatment of rheumatism in children and in the study of allergic reactions.

He founded a scientific school: prof. Sidelnykov VM, Prof. Moschych PS, prof.O.I. Lasitsa, prof.Mohort MA, prof. Bezrukov LA, prof. Bagdasarov IV and many others were among his students. He took the position of the chief pediatrician in UMOH from 1962 to 1966 and was rewarded USSR State Prize (1979).

During the Ukrainian Scientific conference a number of academic lectures, master classes, and 25 scientific papers focused the evolution of scientific views of Ivan Rudnev in the sphere of infantile Allergology and Rheumatology Particularly strong interest the audience showed to the master-class "Antimicrobial therapy in childhood: the issues of the day”done by prof. Krivopustov S.P. , to the report "Bronchial obstruction syndrome in children: differential diagnosis, treatment approaches” done by prof. Volosovtsya OP, to the report "Current aspects of bronchial asthma in children" done by prof. Besh LV , to the report "Experience of applying Neurovitan in treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy in children” done by prof. Lezhenko GA, and to the satellite symposium “Antispasmodic therapy in pediatric practice: a question not only to the gastroenterologist” (Prof. NV Nagorno Sci. Marushko J. Assoc. Marchenko T. Z.) and others.

The forum was attended by about 350 listeners - pediatricians, specialists of general practice - family doctors, infant allergologists and cardio-reumatologists, professors and teachers of medical educational institutions of UMOH IV level of accreditation, the organizers of Health Protection practice.

They emphasized the problem of the asthma control in children in Ukraine, a further implementation of the standards of treatment and prevention of this disease in children and adolescents (Prof. OP Volosovets, prof. Besh L. and others.) Particular attention was paid to discussion of current issues of Immunization against the Infectious diseases in the world and in Ukraine (Prof. LI Chernysheva) ”Megacom, ltd.” was the General sponsor of the Ukrainian Scientific Conference
