Glivanov is a sulfonylurea drug, the active substance of which is glimepiride and is used for the treatment of type II diabetes mellitus.

The main mechanism of action of Glianov is a stimulation of a secretion and release of insulin in pancreatic beta cells.

The additional mechanism of action is the increase in glucose capture by adipose and muscular tissues cells in consequence of the fact that Glianov induces the increase of the number of molecules - glucose carriers. During the treatment by Glianov the weight and overweight reduce, lipid dynamics and arterial blood pressure improve.
