World practice of conference conduct on Saturdays seems to be adopted in Ukraine. On Saturday, October 4, 2008, the Association of Pediatricians of Poltava region (the president of the association is professor Kriuchko Tatiana Aleksandrovna) conducted an open workshop “Rational Antibiotic Therapy of Widespread Infections”. This event gathered about 140 pediatricians and otolaryngologists of Poltava region.

Professor Kriuchko Tatyana Aleksandrovna opened the workshop and she was its moderator (The Chairman of the Hospital Pediatrics and Children Infectious Diseases Department of Higher medical educational institution of Ukraine "Ukrainian medical stomatological academy", MD).

Before the beginning of the main program of the workshop the manager of the external department of Megacom Company Avtomonova Natalya told to the present people about the purposes, mission and plans of our company.

Then professor Krivopustov Sergey Petrovitch (the Pediatrics Department № 2 of
the A.A. Bogomolets Kyiv National Medical University, MD) delivered a program lecture “The Role of Oral Cephalosporins in the Practice of Modern Pediatrics”, in which he talked more detailed about the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and indications of cephalosporin antibiotics (including Lexin, Cefutil, Cefix and Cefodox) in pediatrcis.

Professor Kramarev Sergey Aleksandrovitch (the Chairman of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Department of the A.A. Bogomolets Kyiv National Medical University, the chief pediatric infectiologist of the MoH of Ukraine, MD) talked more detailed about the main principle of the antibiotic therapy of acute enteric infections in children in his report “the Modern Approaches to Antibiotic Therapy in the Treatment of Acute Enteric Infections in Children”, and he called the third-generation cephalosporin Cefix as a preparation of choice for the treatment of this pathology.

Professor Abaturov Aleksandr Evgenyevitch (the Chairman of the Intermediate Pediatrics Department of the Dnepropetrovsk State Medical Academy, MD) told to the gathered people about a biofilm as an overorganismic (biosocial) system, functionally coordinated bacterial colony and its role in the formation of resistance to the action of antibacterial preparations. In particular, Aleksandr Evgenyevitch emphasized that recently it has been found, that about 65% of bacterial infections, which affect a human body, can organize a biofilm, and not so long ago the influence of cefpodoxim on the vital activity of bacteria biofilms was shown. In connection with this fact Aleksandr Evgenyevitch and co-authors conducted a research of the effectiveness of the use of Cefodox as a starting antibiotic in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonias in sickly children of early age. On the basis of the conducted research it was concluded that Cefpodoxime Proxetil (preparation Cefodox, Megacom Company) can be recommended as a starting empirical antibiotic in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonias in sickly children of early age.

Professor Kriuchko Tatyana Aleksandrova told about the use of Cefodox (Cefpodoxime Proxetil) in the regimen of monotherapies and step-by-step therapy of recurrent bronchitis in children in her report “the Administration Experience of Cefodox in the Therapy of Recurrent Bronchitis”

Professor Zhuravliev Anatoly Semienovitch (the Chairman of the Otorhinolaryngology Department of the Kharkov National Medical University, MD) told to the present people about the use of Cepfodoxime Proxetil (Cefodox) in the etiotropic therapy of ENT infections.
